Terms & Conditions
The short version: submitting the form is a request, not a confirmed booking — we'll come back to you to confirm. The retreat is genuinely rustic, there's water and fire on the property, and you're responsible for your own group. Please read the safety section.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and The Wellness Retreat, 177852 County Hwy Z, Aniwa, WI 54408. By requesting a booking or staying with us, you agree to them.
2. Booking requests
When you submit the booking form you'll get a confirmation code on screen and by email. That code confirms we received your request — it is not yet a confirmed reservation. We review each request and come back to you to confirm your dates.
Your dates are held for a short period while we do that. If we can't accommodate you, we'll tell you and nothing is owed.
3. Confirming your stay
About two days before check-in we'll text you asking you to reply C to confirm you're still coming. Please do — it helps us prepare, and it lets us release the spot if plans have changed.
4. Rates
Current rates:
- A-frame cabins (the Karner Blue, the Whooping Crane) — $55 per night, or $100 for a two-night weekend
- The Wood Turtle Yurt — $40 per night, or $75 for a two-night weekend
- Tent sites — $35 per night, or $60 for a two-night weekend
- The entire campground — priced individually; contact us
The price shown when you book is the price we'll honour for that stay. Rates may change for future bookings.
5. Payment
You enter your card details when you request a stay. They are handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor — we never see or store your card number.
You are not charged when you book. Stripe places a hold on your card for the amount of your stay. We review every request by hand, and your card is only charged at the moment we confirm your reservation. If we can't accommodate you, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
You'll receive a receipt by email as soon as the payment goes through.
6. Changes and cancellations
Cancel at least 48 hours before your check-in date and you receive a full refund.
Inside 48 hours we can't offer a refund as standard — we're a small retreat with a handful of spaces, and a late cancellation usually means the spot goes unused. That said, please still call us. If something serious has happened we'd rather hear from you than not.
To cancel, phone (920) 460-3614 or email [email protected] with your confirmation code. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
Need to move your dates rather than cancel? Ask — we'll shift them where we can.
If we ever have to cancel your stay — weather, safety, or something beyond our control — we'll contact you as soon as we know and refund you in full.
7. Arrival and departure
We'll agree check-in and check-out times with you when we confirm your booking. If you're running late or arriving after dark, let us know — the property is rural and unlit in places.
8. The retreat is rustic — please read this
This is a working natural property, not a hotel. That's the appeal, and it also means:
- Facilities are simple — a cleanly outhouse, a solar shower, an outdoor bathtub
- Paths and trails are uneven, and unlit after dark
- There are two ponds on the property with no lifeguard
- There are open fires, a wood-fired sauna, and a wood stove in the yurt
- There is wildlife, there are insects, and there is uneven weather
You're responsible for yourself and everyone in your group, including children, at all times. Children must be supervised — especially near the ponds and any fire.
9. Fires and the sauna
Never leave a fire unattended, and put it fully out before you sleep or leave. Follow any burn restrictions in force locally — these are set by the county, not by us, and they change with conditions. Use the sauna and wood stove sensibly and at your own risk.
10. Looking after the place
Please take your rubbish with you or use the bins provided, keep noise down after dark so other guests and neighbours can sleep, stay on the trails, and leave the wildflowers, plants and wildlife as you found them. The butterfly house and ponds are habitats first.
You're responsible for any damage caused by your group beyond ordinary wear and tear.
11. Guest numbers
Please book for the number of guests actually staying. If your group grows, tell us — the cabins, yurt and tent sites each have sensible limits, and we'd rather sort it out beforehand.
12. Seasonal availability
The Wood Turtle Yurt is a summer stay only, open May through September. It's canvas and screen, so it isn't suitable outside those months. The cabins and tent sites are available year-round, weather permitting.
13. Events and whole-retreat bookings
Workshops, retreats and gatherings are welcome — that's part of why this place exists. Whole-retreat bookings are arranged individually, and we'll agree the details with you in writing before your event.
14. Liability
You use the property and its facilities at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by Wisconsin law, we are not liable for personal injury, illness, loss or damage to your belongings, except where caused by our own negligence. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We recommend your own travel or personal insurance for anything valuable.
15. This website
We keep the information here as accurate as we can, but photographs and descriptions are illustrative and the property changes with the seasons. If the site is temporarily unavailable, call us — the phone always works.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page at the moment you book is the one that applies to your stay.
