# The Wellness Retreat

## Stays

Cabins are named after Wisconsin endangered species, so guests can ask for one
by name. Both A-frames share a rate; they differ in where they sit on the
property.

## The corn crib is not a stay

The round building with the green roof is the **corn crib**. It is a shared
common space, not accommodation. Guests are welcome to use it for a fire, to
play cards and games, and to sit out under the lights. **You cannot sleep
there.** If a guest asks to book the corn crib, the answer is that it comes
with any stay but isn't bookable itself.

## Power and water, read before answering a guest

This is a rustic property and the utilities are not where a guest assumes.

- **Electricity** exists in exactly three places: the kitchen (downstairs in the
  main cabin), the corn crib, and the yurt.
- **There is no running water indoors anywhere on the property.** No plumbed
  tap of any kind, indoors, anywhere. Do not soften this.
- Drinking water is an **electric five-gallon dispenser in the shared kitchen**,
  which gives **hot and cold water on demand** and is refilled for guests.
  Both of the above are true at once and the distinction matters: a dispenser
  is an appliance, not plumbing. If a guest asks whether there is hot water,
  the answer is yes, from that dispenser, for drinking and for filling a pot.
  It is NOT a hot tap and there is nothing to shower or wash up under indoors.
- Washing up happens at an **outdoor sink fed by a hose**, which is cold. There
  is **no water at all at the cabins or the tent sites**.
- **No campsite or cabin has power.** The yurt is the only stay with its own
  electricity. The A-frame cabins and all six tent sites have none.

If a guest asks whether they can charge a phone, run a CPAP or a breast pump,
or get water at their site, the answer is that they use the shared kitchen,
not their cabin or tent. Do not soften this.

## What is in the shared kitchen

Enough that a guest who brings food does not need to bring much else:

- A fridge and a freezer
- A hot plate and a toaster oven. There is no oven or stove
- Pots, pans and utensils
- Cabinets to store food in
- Hot and cold drinking water, from the electric dispenser
- The only indoor power on the property

**Firewood is provided free.** There is a fire pit. If a guest asks what to
bring, the honest answer is food, bedding, a torch or headlamp, and layers,
the kitchen covers most of the rest.

## Discount codes

Guests are sent a code after a stay, as a thank you for leaving a review. A code
is tied to the email address it was issued to, works once, and expires. There is
no public or general-purpose code. If someone asks for one, the answer is that
codes come from staying, not from asking.

## How booking works

1. A guest submits dates and group size on [the booking page](https://wellnessretreataniwa.com/book)
2. They enter a card on Stripe Checkout. **The card is authorized, not charged.**
3. The retreat reviews every request by hand.
4. On acceptance the card is charged and a confirmation email, text and receipt go out.

A submitted form is a **request**, not a confirmed reservation, until the
retreat accepts it. Stays are limited to 30 nights and can be booked up to
about 18 months ahead. Call for anything longer or further out.

## Privacy

The site sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising pixels. Three
embedded Google services (Analytics, Fonts and Maps) receive a visitor's IP
