Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect what we need to hold your reservation and confirm it — your name, contact details and dates. We don't sell it and we don't share it for advertising. We do use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read, which sets cookies; there are no advertising pixels and we don't build a profile of you.
Who we are

What we collect
When you request a booking, the form asks for:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Which accommodation you want, your dates, and the number of guests
- Anything you choose to write in the optional message box
We also generate a confirmation code and record the date of your request and the price quoted.
Automatically, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps). These are used to keep the site running and secure, and to limit abuse of the booking form.
When you pay, your card details are entered on Stripe's secure payment page. They never pass through our servers and we never store them — we only record whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and a link to your receipt.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To hold and confirm your stay — this is the whole reason the form exists.
- To send you a confirmation by email and, if you gave us a mobile number, by text.
- To send you one reminder roughly two days before check-in, asking you to reply C to confirm you're still coming.
- To contact you if something about your stay changes.
- To keep the site working and prevent spam or abuse.
We do not use your details for marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Text messages
If you give us a mobile number when booking, you're agreeing to receive texts about that reservation — a confirmation and a reminder before check-in. These are transactional messages, not marketing.
Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts from us; we'll still email you. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier and plan.
Who else sees your information
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and send confirmations. They only process your information to provide that service to us:
- Render — hosts this website and the booking database (United States).
- Google (Gmail) — delivers our confirmation emails.
- Twilio — delivers our text messages.
- Stripe — processes payments. When you pay, your card details go directly to Stripe; they never reach our servers and we never store them. Stripe tells us only the amount, the outcome, and a receipt link.
Three parts of this site load content from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies when you visit:
- Google Fonts — the typefaces used across the site.
- Google Maps — the embedded map on our contact section.
- Google Analytics — tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. It does not tell us who you are, and we don't use it for advertising.
Our Facebook link is an ordinary link — nothing is shared with Facebook unless you click it and visit their site.
Beyond that, we may disclose information if the law requires it, or if we need to protect the safety of our guests or property.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. The cookies you may pick up here are Google's: Google Analytics sets one to tell a returning visit from a new one and to measure how long a page is read, and the embedded Google Map may set its own. There is no advertising pixel and no cross-site ad tracking.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's browser add-on, or by using your browser's Do Not Track or tracking-protection setting. Nothing about the booking form depends on analytics — it works exactly the same either way.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records for as long as we need them to run the retreat — to honour your reservation, answer questions afterwards, and meet our tax and accounting obligations. Server logs are kept for a short period and then rotate out. If you'd like your details removed sooner, just ask.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the booking form is encrypted in transit. The booking records are stored on our hosting provider's servers, and the admin area that displays them is password-protected and not indexed by search engines.
No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise — but card numbers never touch our servers at all. Stripe handles them on their own PCI-compliant systems, which removes the most sensitive category of data from our side entirely.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information, where we don't need to keep it
- Stop texting you (reply STOP, or just tell us)
Email [email protected] and we'll sort it out. We may need to confirm who you are first.
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Bookings should be made by an adult. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
